Three of those cards are not dealt to anyone. They are numbered 1, 2, and 3 so the table can talk about a specific one. Every trick in the box, including the Doppelgänger and Masons. You need at least three players before the host can deal. Read the night order once, then host when the phones are out.

Werewolf Night deals 12 cards for 9 players: one each, plus three face down in the center.

Which preset should 9 players use?

The Chaos preset. Every trick in the box, including the Doppelgänger and Masons. Fitted to this table, the deck is 2 Werewolves, a Minion, 2 Masons, a Seer, an Apprentice Seer, a Robber, a Troublemaker, a Drunk, an Insomniac, and a Tanner.

What are the three center cards for?

They sit face down, numbered 1, 2, and 3. A Seer can look at two of them. A lone Werewolf can look at one. The Drunk swaps with one and does not see it. A role can be in the game without belonging to a player.
